Hello, who are you?

Hello! I am Cindy, the maker behind Andsëë! We are based in the beautiful country of Indonesia. Nice to meet you!

And there is another girl behind

Andsëë. Her name is Christy. She is in charge of all things branding. We have a big dream to build Andsëë together into something amazing!

Tell us about Andsëë. How did it all start?

Andsëë happened because of so many dreams I’ve had all my life and my endless love for art including photography, pottery, graphic design, and many more! In the beginning, I dreamed of a brand that speaks to people through my creations. Sharing our purpose which is self-love and positivity, and also to be able to connect with a lot of people around the world. I’ve always wanted to do something related to photography, creating wonderful creations out of my hands with a pop of colour and to just be free with what I create. I began my journey in lifestyle products and focused my work to get this this point of our journey.

Is there a story behind your business name?

In the beginning I wanted a brand name that related to my name. After endless discussions, we came up with ‘& C’, which evolved to Andsëë at some point!

The backstory: photography has always been the centre of my life, I just love how it freezes moments and the colours and visuals that end up being! The influence on our brand’s name is that Andsëë is the sense of sight – to switch our perspective to see things differently in a positive, ‘rebellious’ way. As if you’re looking at a viewfinder and try to capture things that you want to freeze, but the bonus is that you can wear your memorable moments! To sum it up, Andsëë is like a combination of all things that I love in life.

Andsëë’s branding was inspired by Memphis Design, an architecture group founded by Italian architect and designer Ettore Sottsass. It was active from 1980 to 1988 with its colourful designs, quirky shapes and it was just different from the rest! You can see our inspiration from them in our packaging and the colours that we use.

Your polymer clay earrings are very detailed, almost like paintings! How long does a pair usually take to make?

Thank you! It means a lot to me. So roughly, it can take around two to five hours total to create intricate designs. But sometimes they can take days to complete, depending on how difficult they are. But I enjoy creating and time always passes by without me realising.

Tell us about your creative journey. How did you learn to make earrings?

I had some experience in the wearable art world. I did pottery back in the day and then years later, I encountered Polymer Clay, and have been creating a lot and haven’t stopped since. Both mediums have the same texture that I am used to, so transitioning wasn’t a big problem. I always try to experiment to find my style and what I love to do. I have been a self-taught learner.

I love seeing the custom earrings you create for people based on photographs they provide. Are there any custom pieces that have stood out for you either because of their design or the story behind them?

I can say all of them are special to me. It’s been such a joyful journey to encounter a lot of amazing customers that I have met online and to listen to their personal stories about the things that they want me to recreate into wearable art – for instance their kids, their travel moments or even their favourite food. I can’t pick to be honest. They are all precious.
