Anna’s colourful life

Take a step inside Anna Egberts’ Geelong home where the decor is as colourful as her canvases.

What does the average day look like for you?

I work four days as a graphic designer. It starts early with a workout if I can, then getting the kids ready for their day. I am currently working from home at the moment due to COVID, so once I drop the kids to day care I grab a coffee and make my way back home.

I often do some bookkeeping/accounting things in the morning before I actually start work. In the evenings after the kids are in bed that is when I paint! I turn my favourite music on and hide away in my little studio space!

What puts you in the mood to create?

Good inspiration! It can come from a new flower in the garden or a bunch I buy for the house. It could also be a memory I remember or an experience that I have had. Also good music… that is a definite must.

Tell us about your creative studio. Where does all the magic happen?

It is a combination space of my ‘everyday job’ and my painting. I took over my daughter’s bedroom so I could have a space to work and paint and be able to close the door. One side has a long desk with my computer and a space to wrap all my orders, and the other has drop sheets and canvas so I can paint.

I am usually a pretty clean and organised person. This is definitely one of the messier rooms of the house… I know when a painting is going well because the mess just spread and gets worse!
